I joined Warhorse Studios in march 2015 and after working for almost 3 years we finally successfully released Kingdom Come Deliverance back in February 2018.
It was such a great feeling to finally release the game to the world and let everybody experience what we created.
Almost immediately after the release of Kingdom Come Deliverance we started with the pre production on Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
I was part of the Material Artist Team dedicated to learn Substance Designer and Substance Painter and to create new materials but also to rework materials and models we created for Kingdom Come Deliverance.
Substance at that time was relatively new to most of the artists. It showed to be such a strong tool to work fast and smart so we really wanted to implement it into our pipeline for making Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
First we started with the basics, learning the programs and create various filters, generators and materials to build a library with.
We also started reworking assets we made for KCD by upgrading meshes and create new materials made with Substance Designer and apply them within Substance Painter.
I had the pleasure to work on KCD2 while in pre production for about 6-7 months before I left Warhorse Studios for personal reasons.
Here are some Substance Materials and reworked models I made during this pre production period.
